e·phem·er·a

əˈfem(ə)rə/

noun

"things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time."

In my monthly paper ephemera blog series, I hope to document my time and allow others to experience my life as it happens through physical documents. Through words and photos, I hope to make these documents — which are usually meant to be immediately pitched and forgotten — more permanent while explaining the stories of how I collected them along the way.

See descriptions of some fleeting pieces of my April 2017 paper trail below.

Sean and I are super into going to Tacos 46, an unassuming taco spot on the west side of Indianapolis. It's cheap. Chicken is good. The habanero salsa is life-changing. We go there at least three times a month, so it's easy to collect tons of these taco receipts in my purse and car.

An Easter card from my dad that featured a pinky and glittery rabbit on the front and was accompanied by a solid chocolate bunny. Look at that GIANT "D." I've always thought my dad's handwriting was distinct.

My friend and I send handwritten cards like this back and forth while she's away at school in Chicago. I've been wearing that t-shirt a lot more than someone who doesn't go to Loyola should.

At this moment, it's occurred to me I'm not 100 sure I was supposed to keep this fancy clip. But I got this Indiana College Press Association name badge at my first convention this year, which I attended alongside my two greatest college friends and our newspaper adviser.

I complained to my mom on the phone that I didn't have any stamps, so she mailed me some along with this sweet card. She's the best.
